CRPF to tackle law and order in Bihar
PATNA: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) would tackle law and order situation in Bihar. Till date, CRPF was deployed only in naxal-affected areas in the state, besides providing security during polls.
Acting on a formal request from the chief secretary, K A H Subramanian, the Centre has cleared the proposal to allow CPRF personnel in maintaining law and order in state.

At present, 24 companies of CRPF are stationed in the state for fighting extremists. If need be, the strength of the force would be utilised in dealing with the law and order situation, said an official.
In view of the ongoing Durga puja celebrations, the government has already deployed CRPF in five sensitive districts- Nalanda, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Sitamarhi. IG Neelmani told ToI, two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) have also been deployed at Patna and Muzaffarpur particularly during the puja festival.
In order to provide adequate security to the common people, Special Task Force (STF) commandos have also been posted in Patna, Munger, Banka, Bhojpur and Bhagalpur districts during puja, Neelmani added.
Subramanian, in a fresh communication to all DMs and SPs has asked them to identify communal and anti-social elements and take preventive action against them. Subramanian told ToI that DMs and SPs have been given special instructions to ensure proper effective functioning of their respective district control rooms to provide assistance to the common people.
